80/20 rule

Just a quick note tonight… Been feeling like I’m on the wrong side of the 80/20 rule these days. Every time I read about that principle, I rarely come across ideas of what to do when you’re too far on one side. Going to look into teachings around branching out and breaking the 80/20 rut.

Smart writing

One of the challenges this past election season, and now well into the Trump presidency is finding smart writing. I disagree with the accusations that all news is essentially fake news, but there is validity in calling out bias and tone. The press coverage seems to shine a light in the wrong places. I recently …

Twist the spine

I’ve downloaded a fantastic mobile app on Android. It’s called Oblique Strategies. This is a digital mobile version of a famous deck of cards published by Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt back in 1975. The cards were developed to help aid in the creative process. Each card includes a single phrase. There’s a theory behind …

Nostalgia

I don’t get nostalgic over many things. One might think I’m extra romantic with video games, having started a retro video game podcast and dedicated much of my life to gaming. What did I do?

Installed Rescue Time. Wow. I’m scared. I really don’t know if I want to know what I did all day. Really don’t know what to expect, but I’m anxious and excited to see what the data shows. I’ve picked up Zelda: Spirit Tracks after a week of inactivity. It’s so dull. I’m struggling to finish …

Snow day

First (and I’m guess last) snow day of the season. On a day like today, parked indoors on the computer, it’s clear that I spend a ton of time on the computer. Mostly doing productive things, but sometimes wandering down the Wikipedia rabbit hole, or wasting time on Facebook. Sadly, I have no idea how …

Introverted

I’ve been in a constant state of exploring my intro/extroversion for a while. Did the Meyers/Briggs thing. Took the Predictive Index. Really fascinating stuff. I feel like I need to read up and become more schooled in this topic. Sometime last year, I met a podcaster, J. Thorn who has a cool podcast about being …
